Search for suspect in subway assault

UPPER EAST SIDE (WABC) -- Police are trying to identify a suspect wanted for assaulting a man on a subway platform earlier this month on the Upper East Side.

The attack happened at 4:00 on the morning of December 11, 2011 on the southbound platform of the 6 train at 77th Street and Lexington Avenue.

The suspect was on the northbound platform, but then crossed the track bed after getting into a stare down with the 31-year-old male victim.

The victim was struck in the face. He was taken to Colombia Presbyterian Hospital with a laceration to his head and bleeding to his brain.

The suspect is described as a 30 to 40 year old black man, around six feet tall and 200 pounds. His picture was captured by a surveillance camera.
