Eyewitness NewsNEW YORK (WABC) -- Long Island Railroad riders who want peace and quiet on their way to work will get their wish.

The LIRR has started testing a quiet car program on select peak hour trains running on the Far Rockaway branch.

Four morning and six evening rush hour trains will have a designated car free of cell phone conversations, loud talking and other noise from other electronic devices.

The LIRR will monitor customer reaction before expanding the program. (Copyright ©2011 WABC-TV/DT. All Rights Reserved.) Get more Long Island News »
