Web produced by Bill King, Eyewitness NewsBUSHWICK, Brooklyn (WABC) -- Police on Thursday released surveillance video of a shooting on a New York City bus that left a teenager critically wounded.
The shooting happened at Myrtle and Wilson avenues in Bushwick Wednesday.
Police have new clues in the search for a man who gunned down the teen. They say the suspect pressed the stop button on the bus and then shot the victim on his way off. Investigators are hoping surveillance video will lead to an arrest.
The video, from a security camera outside a bodega, was recorded around 4:30 in the afternoon Wednesday. Police say a man in a blue hoodie shot an 18-year-old on a B-60 bus.The driver pulled over when he heard the gunfire. He found the teenager shot in the stomach. The victim was rushed to Elmhurst Hospital and is expected to survive. His father says he does not know why his son would be a target.
"It's a disgrace," he said. "This is ridiculous. He's on a bus, a New York City bus, and he gets shot? No argument or nothing? Nobody knows nothing? It's ridiculous."
Police have interviewed witnesses and passengers, and they've collected evidence at the scene, including shell casings.
The name of the victim has not been released. This is the first violent crime on a city bus since a driver was fatally stabbed by a passenger in 2008.
