The 64th annual Primetime Emmy Awards took place on Sunday, September 23 in Los Angeles from L.A. Live's Nokia Theatre on ABC at 8 p.m. ET / 5 p.m. PT.
Jimmy Kimmel of the ABC talk show "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" hosted the show. The night's biggest winners were "Homeland," with six Emmys total, and "Game Change," with five Emmys total. The ABC sitcom "Modern Family" also won five Emmys.
Actors who received their first Emmy nominations this year included Zooey Deschanel of the FOX comedy series "New Girl," "Blossom" alum Mayim Balik of "The Big Bang Theory," Damian Lewis of Showtime's "Homeland," Lena Dunham of HBO's "Girls," Kevin Costner and Bill Paxton of the History Channel miniseries "Hatfields & McCoys" and Benedict Cumberbatch of the PBS miniseries "Sherlock: A Scandal in Belgravia (Masterpiece).
