Prince Philip got a few royal visitors on Saturday, December 24, after his minor heart surgery on Friday.
The 90-year-old prince was admitted to the hospital after he experienced chest pains, according to ABC News. Prince Philip was transported from the Queen's country estate in Sandringham, England, where the royal family will to spend the holidays, to Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. He then underwent surgery to open a blocked artery. The procedure was reportedly minimally invasive and Philip - also known as the Duke of Edinburgh - had a coronary stent put in.
Queen Elizabeth II, his wife of 60-years, paid a visit to Prince Phillip early Saturday morning along with their children Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew. Prince Charles arrived shortly after with his wife the Duchess of Cornwall.
Prince Philip is "in good spirits, but he is eager to leave," Buckingham Palace said.
Prince Phillip was previously hospitalized in 2008 for a chest infection. He celebrated his 90th birthday in June and has been married to Queen Elizabeth since 1947.
In April, his grandson and second in line to the throne, Prince William, married Kate Middleton in London on April 29 in a ceremony watched by millions of people around the world, including more than 22 million viewers in the United States. It will be Middleton's first Christmas as a member of the royal family.
