Elizabeth warehouse fire contained, but still burning

  Eyewitness NewsELIZABETH, N.J. (WABC) -- Officials say a huge fire that broke out inside an Elizabeth, New Jersey warehouse has finally been contained.

But the blaze will likely keep burning for at least a few more days.

Dozens of firefighters have been battling the blaze since it broke out Wednesday afternoon. But safety concerns about the building's stability have kept them from fully attacking the fire, though the warehouse isn't expected to collapse.

Authorities aren't sure what sparked the blaze, though it's believed that it started with a car fire inside a body shop in the warehouse.

And while it's now unlikely the fire will spread further, it's not clear what items may still be burning.

No injuries have been reported.

Crews remained on the scene Sunday to monitor the blaze.

Prince Philip gets a visit from Queen Elizabeth II at hospital

Prince Philip got a few royal visitors on Saturday, December 24, after his minor heart surgery on Friday.

The 90-year-old prince was admitted to the hospital after he experienced chest pains, according to ABC News. Prince Philip was transported from the Queen's country estate in Sandringham, England, where the royal family will to spend the holidays, to Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. He then underwent surgery to open a blocked artery. The procedure was reportedly minimally invasive and Philip - also known as the Duke of Edinburgh - had a coronary stent put in.

Queen Elizabeth II, his wife of 60-years, paid a visit to Prince Phillip early Saturday morning along with their children Princess Anne, Prince Edward and Prince Andrew. Prince Charles arrived shortly after with his wife the Duchess of Cornwall.

Prince Philip is "in good spirits, but he is eager to leave," Buckingham Palace said.

Prince Phillip was previously hospitalized in 2008 for a chest infection. He celebrated his 90th birthday in June and has been married to Queen Elizabeth since 1947.

In April, his grandson and second in line to the throne, Prince William, married Kate Middleton in London on April 29 in a ceremony watched by millions of people around the world, including more than 22 million viewers in the United States. It will be Middleton's first Christmas as a member of the royal family.

Warehouse fire reaches 7 alarms in Elizabeth

  Adam Stephan, Eyewitness NewsELIZABETH, N.J. (WABC) -- A seven-alarm fire continued burning in a large warehouse in Elizabeth, New Jersey on Thursday.

The fire started at around 1 p.m. on Wednesday as a car fire in the basement of 819 Newark Avenue which is the old Burry Biscuit Factory.

With the flames still burning 24 hours later, authorities called the fire suspicious and said it may have been intentionally set. The building is now used as a space leased to various companies.

The fire spread and reached five alarms by Wednesday night and seven alarms by early Thursday.

Firefighters are having a tough time getting to the fire because of where it's located. They're using foam to fill the basement and cut off the fire's oxygen supply.

Several mutual aid companies have been called in, including from Jersey City and Newark.

There are no injuries or evacuations, although the roof the building began to collapse around 6 p.m. Thursday.
