Boy rescued, man drowns off shores of Connecticut

  Eyewitness NewsCONNECTICUT (WABC) -- A man drowned in the strong currents in Long Island Sound off the shores of Connecticut Monday afternoon.

Authorities say 34-year-old Rocco Daddio, of Hamden, was swept away as he walked with a boy on a sandbar in Silver Sands State Park.

Someone on a personal watercraft rescued the 9-year-old boy, but it took more than two hours for emergency crews to find the man.
